Entertaiment is entertainment that appeals to the senses. This could be music, dance, acting, or a show intended for an audience of two or thousands. It has become associated with amusement, but it can be serious as in ceremonies, satire, and religious festivals.

From late 15c., from Middle French entretenir, from entre- “among” and tenir “to hold, support” (see entertain). A common suffix of Latin origin used with verb stems to form nouns expressing the result or effect of the action of the stem, as in amazement, betterment, and merriment.

Entertainment often hits on themes that the brain was evolved to deeply react to in order to understand the world we live in, such as social backstabbing and murders. It stimulates the brain to realease seratonin and dopamine wich gives us good feelings.
