Law New in the City of New York

law new

Law is a rapidly changing field. The legal world is always looking for new ways to reach clients, embrace technology and create strategies that haven’t been part of standard practice in the past. One of the areas that has been growing rapidly is law new, and it’s an area that all lawyers need to understand in order to maximize the potential of this concept. Law new is all about benefitting clients and creating a path for them that goes outside of traditional methods, often using staff that doesn’t come from the partnership track. It also uses a variety of fee structures and can serve as a secondary focus for a firm’s main efforts.

A New Way to See the Law

The Law Department has launched a new way to view the laws of the City, including changes (known as “bills”) that have been proposed by members of Congress and the Mayor, and approved by the Council and the Governor. The Laws of the City website lets users browse laws by subject matter and see how they’ve changed over time.

Will a new law stop gender bias in prices?

Many consumers have been frustrated by the fact that shampoos and other personal care products marketed to women cost more than their male counterparts. Now a new law will make it illegal for businesses to charge different prices based on a person’s sex, and advocates hope it will be the first of many anti-discriminatory measures in the fight for gender equity.

The law will require the Department of Citywide Administrative Services to prepare a notice for employees and job applicants regarding federal and City student loan forgiveness programs. DCWP will also prepare a list of other programs that may be available to employees, and will provide both notices to City agencies and to the public.
