What Is a Daily News?

A daily news is a newspaper that contains news and information about current events. It is published every day of the week except Sundays and national holidays. Many people use a daily news to stay up-to-date on the latest developments in their area. There are also several different types of daily news, including national and international news. Some daily news is available online, while others are only available in print.

The Yale Daily News is the oldest college daily newspaper in the United States. It is published Monday through Friday while the University is in session and serves students, faculty, staff, and the greater community of Yale and New Haven. In addition to the main daily issue, the News publishes a Friday supplement, WKND, and several special issues each year, such as the Yale-Harvard game day edition, the Commencement edition, and the First Year issue.

A Daily News editorial, written by the paper’s editors and writers, often expresses the newspaper’s political perspective and positions on a particular issue. Historically, the News has taken a conservative stance on most issues, but in recent years it has become more centrist. The News is known for its investigative journalism, and is often cited as having pioneered the modern tabloid format in America. The News is also a leader in breaking news and has a reputation for being one of the most influential newspapers in the United States.

In the early 1900s, the News was famous for its photographic coverage and was often referred to as “New York’s Picture Newspaper.” In 1928, a News reporter strapped a camera to his leg and photographed Ruth Snyder being executed in the electric chair. The resulting front-page headline was “DEAD!” The News also has a long history of controversy and scandal, both at home and abroad.

The News has a high AllSides Media Bias Rating of Left, which means that its editorials and coverage tend to align with liberal, progressive, or left-wing thought and policy agendas. Its news coverage is often critical of the Trump administration and supportive of the Democratic Party.

In addition to its editorials, the Daily News covers business, sports, entertainment, and local news. Its website includes a variety of interactive tools and features, such as maps and videos. In 2017, the Daily News was sold to Tronc, a Chicago-based media company.

The Daily News also operates the Daily News Historical Archive, a digital collection of articles from the newspaper’s archives. The archive is currently being migrated to a new, more user-friendly platform and will soon include issues from 1996 to the present. A generous gift from an anonymous Yale alumnus has made the project possible. Additional support will help ensure the continued maintenance and preservation of the Archive.
