Entertainment is a way for people to amuse themselves in their leisure time. It can be anything from a simple game that someone spontaneously invents to a full-scale production for a global audience. People may create their own entertainment, such as when they play a sport as a hobby; actively participate in it, such as when they perform in front of an audience; or consume it passively, such as when they watch a film or listen to music.
Some forms of entertainment have a serious purpose, such as ceremonies, religious festivals, and satire. But most entertainment is purely for amusement.
In the corporate world, entertaiment can be used to motivate employees through programs for gifting and honoring them. But it is not a good idea to use entertainment in departments of sensitive actions such as courts, hospitals and intelligence services.
